If getting into yoga is a part of your new year plan, what a better way to start the new year than with a hatha Yoga class in the heart of Maastricht. Small groups with personal guidance and assistance. I am so happy to share with all of you, new and old friends, that I will be teaching a class every Tuesday from 18.45 till 19.45 at City Gym Maastricht Achter de Barakken 13, 6211 RZ Maastricht.
The class is a combination of hatha yoga, restorative yoga and yoga therapy. A gentle way to relax, returning to our healthy body and mind, and of course we will have enough opportunities to open the heart and play, balancing all the energy centers of the body, healing and recovering from the excess of the holiday season. Keep in mind that asana is only a small portion of the larger pie that is yoga. Breath work, also known as Pranayama, is an equally important practice that can help you cultivate better body awareness and focus, decrease anxiety, and draw you into your present moment.
If your intension is to loose a few pounds or just get strong and fit, this is the perfect combination of strength and flexibility. Releasing old patterns and starting with healthy and inspiring new ways to unite body mind, bringing harmony to your innerself, peace of mind, and the cultivation of contentment, a much needed a positive attitude in our hectic city life, as we learn about the yoga philosophy and integrating new concepts like ahimsa (non-violence) as well as the yoga sutras of Patanjali. The yoga heritage is very rich and can benefit your life enormously. A regular Yoga practice is a perfect way to take a quality time for yourself.
This is an invitation to take part in a weekly yoga class to improve, flexibilty, focus and fitness. Another minor but pleasant benefit is that doing yoga can actually help you get better sleep. Yoga is pretty effective at helping you develop some premium, proper postures, since a lot of the breathing and seated positions require a straight back for proper effect. Good posture is definitely going to develop during yoga practice.
Another side effect of yoga is that it will help you develop some truly incredible mental and physical strength. The whole point of yoga is to work on your body’s strength so that you can sit for longer in meditation, and the physical investment in the stretches and positions ensures that you’ll experience plenty of physical strength benefits as a result. Moving meditation, meditation improves your quality of life by allowing your mind some time to process everything that goes on in your life. It’s a hugely important and integral part of yoga practice and something that can really change your life, allowing you to embrace calmness and serenity with ease.
Maybe you have taken a class or maybe you are new to the yoga arts, for the begginers and for the seasoned practicioners this is a perfect moment to start to rip the benefit of a weekly yoga class. See you Tuesday 3rd January 2017 at 18.45 !
